Message From The President

Dear Fellow GIPA’s

I look forward to an eventful year for the GIPA’s.  Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve on the board as President.  I would like to thank Doug Senecal for his dedication and hard work last year as President.

Did you know that there are over 800 PA’s registered with the AAPA who specialize in Gastroenterology and/or Hepatology across the nation?  The GIPA’s as a group are recognized by the AAPA as the representatives for our specialty.  We play an active role in the House of Delegates at the AAPA national convention each year, giving our input on key issues as they relate to Physician Assistants and the Gastroenterology and Hepatology professions.  Many of our members are also quite active in other membership organizations such as the AGA, AALSD, ASGE, and ACG.

My goals for this year as President include growing our membership base, fostering GI/Hepatology advanced training and education programs, advocating for GI CME opportunities, and representing our group within the AAPA.  We as GIPA’s can be leaders in the field of GI and Hepatology.  By growing and strengthening our membership base, we can become more effective and influential leaders.

I encourage you to consider joining GIPA if you have not already done so.  Together we can make a difference.

Diana McFarlane MPAS, PA-C
GIPA President
